Young tea can be given sub-soil irrigation in summer. Start manuring 2 months after planting. Phosphorus: 80–100 kg/ha as rock phosphate placed 15–25 cm deep once a year until the first pruning, then every two years. N and K per hectare per year: 180 and 270 kg in year 1, 240 and 360 kg in year 2, 300 and 450 kg in year 3, and 300 and 300 kg from year 4, applied before the monsoon around the drip circle, away from the collar.
