Saving seed cost with pro-tray transplants
Raising transplants from single-bud rhizome pieces (5–7 g) in pro-trays gives healthy planting material and reduces the seed rhizome quantity and cost. Cut seed rhizomes into single-bud pieces a month before planting, plant them in 98-cell pro-trays filled with partly decomposed coir pith and vermicompost (75:25) enriched with PGPR or Trichoderma at 10 g/kg, keep under a 50% shade net with need-based watering, and transplant in 30–35 days.
