Oil palm — 7Harvest, storage & transport

  • Harvest

First harvest 3.5–4 years after planting. A bunch is ready when a few ripe fruits loosen or fall. Use a chisel on young palms and a hook from about the 10th year. Harvest every 10–12 days (6–7 days in the rainy season) to avoid over-ripe bunches.
