Sorghum is a tropical crop. It can tolerate drought as well as waterlogging, and is a short-day plant. For rainfed sorghum, an average, well-distributed rainfall of 250–300 mm is optimum. It can be grown in the South-West and North-East monsoon seasons, provided the rainfall is evenly distributed.
