Intercropping
Where red hairy caterpillar is endemic, raise one row of cowpea for every five rows of groundnut. Groundnut + gingelly or groundnut + blackgram in a 4:1 ratio, groundnut + cowpea at 6:1, and groundnut + sunflower at 6:2 may be raised. Red gram, blackgram, sunflower, gingelly or other pulses can also be raised as intercrops.
