Irrigate right after planting, on the 3rd day, then weekly. After each harvest, mix 20 kg FYM per plant into the soil. Hoe periodically; a pulse intercrop can be grown in the first year. When plants reach 1 m, nip the terminal bud to encourage basal branches, keeping 5–6 branches per bush.
