Cashew — 7Harvest, storage & transport

  • Harvest and drying

Trees start yielding from the 3rd year; peak picking is March–May. Good nuts are grey-green, smooth and well filled. Separate nuts from the apple and sun-dry for 2–3 days to 10–12% moisture. Well-dried nuts packed in polythene (alkathene) bags keep for 6 months.
