Bearing starts 3–4 years after planting. The tree flowers almost all year, with three main flushes: June–July (Mrig bahar), September–October (Hast bahar) and January–February (Ambi bahar); Hast bahar fruit, harvested in summer, fetches the best price. Fruits mature 5–6 months after flowering; pick them when the colour just starts to change. Peak harvest: July–September and November–January. Grade by size and colour; pack in bamboo baskets or crates lined with green leaves.
